| I had a hen that just insisted she was going to hatch eggs, so I finally put some duck eggs uder her. She hatched them out and I took Rumor to meet them, so he'd know they were his to protect too! He seems to really like the job! |
| Impressive still, to see Rumor back the hog away from me when I am walking with a feed bucket, or move the cattle out of my path, or kill a possum in the chicken yard, and yet, be able to be so gentle with these ducklings. |
| The hen in the background is the one that hatched the ducklings. There were 4 ducklings but she squashed one, so we took the remaining 3 inside and put them in a brooder. When they are a little older we will be taking them out on warm days to enjoy sunshine & fresh air. Rumor will be depended on to help us watch over them and keep them safe. I have no doubt he'll be good at it. Mercy tried to come in to see the new babies and Rumor would have none of that. Rumor didn't feel they needed Mercys company and he told Mercy so in no uncertain terms. |
