Winston is from our Gossip/Rumor 2003 litter
Ruth, Thank you for our wonderful puppy, Winston, AKA Prince, from Gossip and Rumors litter. From the minute that you placed him in my arms, he became a fabulous addition to our family. He was such a trouper on the plane trip home and even enjoyed the car ride. Winston is such a loving and intelligent puppy, and like all puppies, he has boundless energy. He gets along fabulously with our 2 year old ES, Sophie. They have become such wonderful playmates and Sophie has easily taken on the task of training Winston. He is such a pleaser, which makes him easy to train, he was house trained in a matter of weeks, and has learned all commands in short order. We have taken him to puppy class and will start obedience class and CGC training next month. From the beginning of our email communications, I knew that you put your heart and soul into your puppies. As owners we reap the benefits of all your hard work. I enjoy keeping in contact and enjoy all your puppy pictures. Thank you for allowing us to bring Winston into our live, we are loving every minute of it. Connie May conniermay@aol.com

Ruth, John says that Winston is learning much faster than he is. Winston was the star pupil at class this week, he was used as a demo dog, by the teacher, demonstrating how a dog should let you examine teeth, ears, paws etc. He is heeling and sitting automatically when you stop. He does a wonderful "leave it" even when it involves food. Yes, he can leave it! This is a huge accomplishment for him since he is such a chow hound. His recall is great. There is another class going on at the same time he has class, so many of the dogs can't pay attention because there are 12 dogs on the other side of the room. This is when his perfect attention focused on John comes in handy, John can even move him now by just moving his eyes. He will be a great agility dog if we can train ourselves. Connie

Winston was a star again in class last night. He did recalls, bolting straight to me with a teacher standing there holding treats to distract him. She said he looked like a great flyball dog! Then he did attention on me while they circled around and tried to distract him. He did "leave it" with a tasty treat on the floor in front of him, they said his attention on me was superb! There was a trainer there last night who has worked with many of the problem dogs. She was watching Winston and asking everyone what kind of dog he was.She came up to me at the end of class and told me how beautiful and smart she thought he was. They are all wondering about English Shepherds now. Connie

Well, Winston passed his test for beginner 1 class tonight. We'll start beginner 2 the first week of October. Only about half of the dogs passed. Winston did a fabulous job and then he preformed his latest trick, he catches food in midair. That was an easy trick for him to learn. Connie

Last night at Winston's class the instructor decided to use him for a demo dog. She finally had to give him back to John because he would not demonstrate all the behaviors she wanted to show how to correct. She wanted to show pulling on the leash and not heeling correctly. Winston trotted along beside her with his eyes right on her. She gave him back to John with the comment "he's just too easy to train, he doesn't even try to pull." Yeah Winston, star pupil! Connie
Ruth, What can I say about Winston, there is so much to say? He is such a sweetheart. He has the most intense, deep brown eyes that seem to understand every word, every emotion. He wants to please so his focus is always on me, watching for his cue. He is playful, energetic and highly motivated. He loves life and lives it with gusto and we love him. He still has some mischievious puppy antics, but are usually laughing so hard that we forget to correct him. In many ways he is the opposite of Sophie, she is so mature, so strait laced. He is always the light spot or rather the comic relief. I guess after reading what I wrote, to maybe sum it up in one description - intelligent, highly motivated, very biddable, and extremely devoted and of course gorgeous! Just say he is perfect and we adore him. Connie
