Hello Ruth, Belle is doing great. She is almost 30 lbs and is starting to calm down just a little ( ie she doesn't know the kids over everytime they go outside). She is very obedient, submissive, playful and protective. There are quiet a few male dogs in our area, can you give us an idea when she will go into heat, any warning signs, so that we can protect her? Thanks Ruth, Amber Bleess
Ruth, Thanks for the info. Belle is doing great and we are really enjoying her. She loves to be outside and has a dog house with heat when needed. As the temps have slowly lowered her coat is getting quiet a bit thicker. She actually only prefers to come inside for a few minutes and then get back out to the cold. She protects our area and bluff charges deer, skunks and even a black bear. She is awful quick and loves to jump into the icy waters. She sticks close to our children too. We'll send you a picture sometime. Thanks, Ben Bleess

Hi Ruth, It's Maryellen. It's been so long since I wrote. I hope u are doing fine. It was such a funny summer It was very wet, we could hardly get our farm work done, then my computer was done for a long time. Anyway, our Dolly is just the best dog ever. Everyday I say to my husband how lucky we are to have her. She is a great cow dog and a wonderful house dog. I have to keep her toes clean all the time. She sleeps by my bed every night. She is a true friend. She is also a very good watch dog. I could just go on and on, but I will try to stay in touch more now that my computer in back on track...sorry it's been such a long time. Let me know how everything is going with u. Till then Maryellen

Hi Ruth, I just wanted to let you know that we made it home with Andy fine. He seems to be adjusting well with us and is already becoming protective over Kaylon, our little girl. I wanted to thank you for placing Andy with us and let you know he is doing great. Thanks, Paula, Kellon and Kaylon

Dear Ruth, We love her and she's doing great. She will only quietly sleep at night if she is in my bed, so we sleep together peacefully. Today we went swimming at a neighbors pool and she watched everyone swimming, took two steps backwards and jumped in. She sunk and we grabbed her quickly and showed her where the steps were so she could get out. She was not ruffled in the least and even showed more interest in the pool. Our other English Shepherds were not much on swimming but she may be a swimmer. Yes, I got the vet info and thanks for the update on when shots are due. Thanks again for everything and I will keep you updated. Lindsay

Ruth, We have decided to call her Dutches and I'm sure she will have a multitude of nicknames. We will start obedience classes when she is 12 weeks old and the guy who teaches it lives in the country and has sheep for his border collies. He has offered to see what she does with the sheep when she is older...that will be fun. We just know that she will be our best dog ever. Have a great day! Lindsay

Ruth, I thought I would update you on Dutchess. She is doing great and we love her. We are continuing in obedience classes, we finished beginning and will be starting intermediate in two weeks. She was great. The obedience teacher here has what he calls socialization class on Saturday mornings. He has 3 acres fenced and any dog that has been through his class can come out. All the dogs are taken off their leashes and can run together on those 4 acres. There are few problems and they all have a great time and learn to get along. Dick has a border collie and sheep, so he is letting me train Dutchess to herd and she loves it. At 12 weeks she moved about a dozen sheep from one pasture to the next without any problem and now we are putting her in a round pen with them and teaching her "away from me" and "come by me". I did get the registration stuff, thanks for sending that. Also thanks for encouraging us to stick with ES's and for having Dutchess for us. Take care, Lindsay
